This year’s event also serves as the opening for our second annual Art & Altar exhibition featuring a series of paintings by Robert Palacios, whose works offer an alternative take on the Día de los Muertos festivities and imagery. The exhibition is co-curated by Edward Hayes, MOLAA Curator of Exhibitions, and Steven Acevedo, Director of Chimmaya Gallery in Los Angeles.
Direct from the Smithsonian, MOLAA is also proud to exhibit A Room of Her Own, an altar installation by renowned author, Sandra Cisneros, which pays tribute to her mother Elvira Cordero Cisneros. Also on view, community-built altars including a special tribute in honor of Selena.
