Launched on Scotland's River Clyde in 1934, the most advanced passenger ship of the era endured over two years 'fitting out' before her maiden voyage began on May 27, 1936. Over a quarter million admirers were on hand in Southampton that day to experience the magnificent Queen Mary's world debut. That voyage will be celebrated again; you can become part of a living history already shared by an estimated 60 million people worldwide. Come aboard and celebrate the Queen Mary's 80th Maiden Voyage Anniversary on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
The Maiden Voyage Anniversary Dinner will be held in the Grand Salon, formerly the First Class Dining Room. Guests will be served a modern version of the menu presented to First Class passengers on their first evening at sea. After dinner remarks by Randolph Churchill, great-grandson of the ship's most illustrious passenger. Lord Alan Watson (MP), Baron of Richmond and noted Churchill scholar and author will discuss Churchill's life-long connection to the Queen Mary; a relationship that began long before the maiden voyage and continued through Churchill's retirement. Join us to celebrate this momentous occasion - the 80th Anniversary of the world’s most beloved ocean liner.
Tickets and Tables are available for purchase now. All proceeds will benefit the Queen Mary Heritage Foundation
